Profile: I live in the Detroit area and I'm working toward certification as a wine expert, called a Master Sommelier. So far I'm in the Guild. Aside from working six days a week, I spend way too much time playing video games and putzing around on the internet. I'm also a Michigan State Graduate (BS Human resources, BA Sociology) and a hardcore sports fan.

Picking Wine for You and the Misses : Part Two
November 1st, 2007So… I covered some white wines last week (or so, sorry, this stuff takes a lot of time to put together) and now I would like to deal with some reds.
Now here’s the thing… there are like a ba-jillion different varietals of reds and with European Wines, we don’t necessarily even KNOW exactly what’s in there… its all Government regulated and they don’t have to disclose the contents. The attitude is that if you’re drinking a certified Bordeux, the contents do not matter as much as that it should taste like a Bordeux. By the way for a wine to be Appelation Controllee Certified by France in the Bordeux Region the actual grapes in a Bordeux have to be native to the land. It’s *INSANELY* complicated and I’m just going to deal with what you may see at the store as far as red wine is concerned.
Picking Wine for You and the Misses, Part 1 : White Wines
October 18th, 2007Picking Wine for You and the Misses, Part 1 : White Wines
Picture it: you’ve got a special night set aside for you and your date and you’re looking to do some wining and dining. Restaurants are fine, sure, but nothing speaks to the heart like a tasty home cooked meal.
Wine can be very overwhelming when it comes to selection because there are just so many options beyond simply “Red” and “White”; so what do you pick?
This week we’ll focus on White wines because… I said so? So if you’re cooking, think fish or chicken, if you want to do a red meat, veal pairs very well with white wine.
