Gmail on your iPhone
December 5th, 2007Google is creating an application for the iPhone for it’s popular gmail, search, and calender into one single interface.
Google, which aims to replicate its success in desktop computer Web use on mobile phones, said on Wednesday the new application would make it easier to find, use and switch between its services on the iPhone.
The company is also working to develop new mobile technologies that are faster, easier to use, and available on more devices but Google did not give details.
Other efforts to expand in wireless include the announcement last week that Google would bid in an upcoming U.S. wireless airwaves auction to launch a wireless network, pitting it against established providers Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc. AT&T is the exclusive U.S. carrier for iPhone.

Dexter Eyes CBS
December 5th, 2007CBS announced today that it is repurposing some Showtime shows to air on national television and one of those shows is Dexter.
As the writers strike enters its second month with no end in sight, repurposing cable series on broadcast networks is becoming a reality.
CBS Corp. president and CEO Leslie Moonves said Tuesday that CBS plans to repurpose some Showtime series, including the breakout hit “Dexter.”
Additionally, NBC is said to have expressed interest in running USA’s hip new action drama “Burn Notice.”
” ‘Dexter’ is probably the first one to go on — with some edits,” Moon?ves told reporters at the annual UBS Global Media & Communications Conference in New York. “It fits with our crime shows.”
The edgy, offbeat “Dexter,” which has become a critical and ratings success for Showtime, stars Michael C. Hall as a Miami police forensics expert who moonlights as a vigilante serial killer.
CBS, of course, is the leader in the forensic crime drama genre with the “CSI” franchise.
Moonves didn’t specify when “Dexter” would launch on CBS beyond saying it should come “in the near future.”
Now in its second season on Showtime, “Dexter” has broken ratings records for the premium cable network. Its Nov. 18 episode ranked as the most-watched in Showtime history.
In addition to “Dexter,” CBS also is considering Showtime’s racy period drama “The Tudors,” which originally was developed for CBS, and the critically praised dark comedy “Weeds,” about a marijuana-peddling soccer mom. However, both would need heavy editing to make it to broadcast primetime.

Marvel Movie Madness!
December 4th, 2007Some pretty cool rumors floating around about The Hulk and Iron Man movies over on AICN. Check it out.
This is interesting, and it plays into something we’ve been saying for a little while here at AICN. We broke the story earlier this year that Sam Jackson will appear in IRON MAN as Nick Fury. I heard from a completely different source that there might be a similar scene in THE INCREDIBLE HULK, something that was added late in the process. Could it be that Marvel’s going to set up their eventual AVENGERS movie by connecting all these movies up via one character who approaches each of these heroes separately?I’m not sure there really is a second Nick Fury appearance. But when I got this e-mail (edited a bit to protect the spy) today, it made me wonder anew… just how closely related are these worlds all going to be? I like this possible way of doing it far more than Warner’s proposed out-of-continuity JUSTICE LEAGUE film.Anyway… check this out, grain of salt included unless we can verify it soon:
There are some fuzzy politics going on with the Iron Man and Hulk movies - they’re shooting a scene TOGETHER! The trouble is, I can’t tell if its an Iron Man scene with the Hulk in in or a Hulk scene with IRON MAN in it, more interestingly, it’s possible that the SAME SCENE or some variation of it might be in BOTH movies lending to the comic book / single universe, many heroes idea seen in the past - uber cool.

Hey, Jericho fans… it’s baaaack.
December 4th, 2007Well starting February 12th it will be. Here’s part of the press release released by CBS today.
Back in response to one of the most unprecedented and impassioned displays of fan support on behalf of a television program, “Jericho,” the drama about what happens in the aftermath of a nuclear explosion in the once peaceful town of Jericho, returns for its second season on Tuesday, Feb. 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). “Jericho” stars Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott, Lennie James, Kenneth Mitchell, Brad Beyer and Alicia Coppola.
I guess they shot this awhile back, yeah? what are the chances it actually gets picked up past this?

Six Minutes of Dark Knight
December 4th, 2007Lucky movie goers who will be seeing I Am Legend on an IMAX screen will be treated with a 6 minutes preview of The Dark Knight. UGO.com has a rundown of it all. Spoiler Alert!
It starts off with a breathtaking shot of Gotham City in broad daylight. The camera swoops into this big glass skyscraper the way only an IMAX movie can. It was stunning. Then BOOM! One of the windows in this big glass skyscraper is blown out. It then cut to two thugs in ugly clown masks (the ones we saw in the first publicity stills that were released months ago) shooting a zip line down to an adjacent rooftop.
Cut to the street as we see another thug waiting on a street corner with his clown mask in his hand. We’re looking at him from behind and can’t see his face. A van pulls up and the thug puts on his mask and jumps in to join the rest of the clowns. The clown who’s driving is bitching about how this Joker guy who planned the heist didn’t even bother to show up and questions why they should cut him in on any of the loot. There’s an awesome line from one of the clowns about The Joker and how he wears make-up as “war paint” to scare the crap out of people. Very cool stuff.

Joker looks spot on. The new Batsuit…………..I don’t know. It’s always in the dark anyway so I guess it really doesn’t matter. I don’t see the need to change the suit in every movie. Nipples are inevitable aren’t they?

Weekend Box Office 11-30-07 to 12-02-07
December 3rd, 2007
Enchanted continues to hold on to the top spot at the box office this week while This Christmas and Beowulf continue to hold on to 2nd and 3rd as well. The only newcomer this week, Awake, starring Anakin and the Invisible Woman opened poorly at #4. No Country for Old Men suffered it’s first drop in returns but is still going strong taking in a total of 23 Million while it’s still on less than 1000 screens.

Bang the drum! Just not so loud
November 28th, 2007Does your bad assery on the drums piss off your band mates because you bang them so loudly? Well never fear GenerationGamerz has a home made solution just for you!
When addressing the problem, we first thought about using practice pads. But at $12.99 for one, and considering we would need four and still have to cut them to pieces, we figured there must be a better alternative. So a quick trip to Michael’s, and we were ready to begin.

GTA IV box art and new trailer..
November 28th, 2007Rockstar has released the cover art for GTA IV by revealing it in a time-lapse video showing it being painted onto a wall. Here is that video.
Here is the finished product.
It’s what you come to expect from a GTA game but honestly any bit of news on this game gets me excited.
Joystiq reports on when we will see the next trailer as well.
They’ve also announced a new trailer titled, “Move up, ladies” which is scheduled to drop Dec. 6th – next Thursday – at 3:00pm EST. Let’s just hope things go smoother than their previous two attempts, which managed to clog the tubes and send impatient fans scrambling to torrent sites. Hey, Rockstar, we know a certain corporate benefactor who would love to host your trailer. Call us, our people can talk to your people.
