Looks like the dry spell of pathetic movies is finally coming to end! Whoohoo! There have been some decent fillers, I mentioned 21 as an entertaining albeit way to drawn out movie, and last weekend i saw STREET KINGS. Hm. Well…it wasn’t terrible, not as terrible as PROM NIGHT, but it wasn’t great either. Its basically Keanu Reeves running around with that “Whoa” look on his face while Forest Witaker talks in half sentences. Watch anything he does, he is a good actor, but his speech patterns are weird as fuck. He kinda….talks like….talks like this…always…always pausing…

Opening
Couple of movies coming out, an according to Rotten Tomatoes, we might have some winners.

The first release, FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, starring Hollywood’s best Asians (Jackie Chan and Jet Li). The plot revolves around them trying to get some white kid to some place. Get this, the white kid is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and finds a portal leading to the kingdom!! Wow!! This hasn’t been done thousands of fucking times!! Fuck.

As of writing this, it sits a 67%, which I suppose isn’t god awful. I don’t expect it to go any higher, and it will probably be around 50% by opening tomorrow. We’ll see. My biggest reserve about this movie isn’t the plot or the reviews, its this image:

Next up is the comedy release that actually looks pretty good, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. Its getting good reviews, and while I’m a little hesitant, I’ll give it a go-see. Out of all the releases coming out this weekend, this is the one i recommend.

Finally, 88 MINUETS, starring Al Pachino. If you haven’t heard of this, guess what, your not alone. This piece of shit came outta nowhere, and sits at a nice seventeen fucking percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Pachino has lost his touch. I honestly don’t think he was ever that good, just surrounded by monumental talent that made him look good. The plot? College professor moonlights as a forensic investigator or some shit like that, and receives a phone call that tells him he has only 88 minuets to live. OH MAH GAWD. Most unoriginal bullshit ever. It’ll flop.

Next week we’ll look at HAROLD AND KUMAR 2, then the weekend after that the much anticipated IRON MAN.
