PSN Store Down Until 11PM PST Tonight
By Ross • About: PS3, Playstation Network at 4:05 pm on April 14 2008If by chance you were wondering why you couldn’t get your fix on the stale two week old content on the PS3 today, it’s because since 6.00 A.M PST this morning, the store was taken down to do complete the final touches to the highly publicized PSN Store revamp. The most notable changes is the transition from a web-browser interface to that of a program, much like the Xbox Marketplace. The new store also promises to offer more intuitive and better organization of the content available and all future content. No word yet if the Thursday-only update schedule is still in place, as opposed to the 24/7 implementation of new content on the XBL Marketplace . Unfortunately, all signs points to PSN Thursday being here to stay. A shame really since it was amongst one of the few things I thought Sony didn’t get right.
COD4 junkies need not fret though, as online functionality in PS3 games still works, so PSN isn’t totally out of commission. What is our reward for the downtime, besides a stay on our voluntary conversion of tangible money for intangible content? A sweet, juicy firmware 2.30 update, which throws in the new store and for the audiophile home theater enthusiaists, DTS-HD and DTS-HD Master support.
