Rock Band Weekly Download - Earache Thrash Pack (Updated)
By Stan • About: Featured Articles, Gaming at 11:42 am on March 14 2008Update: I downloaded and played through the songs this morning on guitar and vocal band quickplay before work. I was 20 minutes late, but you have this update. First off, all vocals are judged as talky parts meaning you can growl, talk, sing or whatever. As a band, the easiest song, “DOA,” is in Blistering and it gets harder from there.
“Blinded By Fear” - I knew this song the best so played it first. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be and the guitar seemed kind of dumbed down, especially compared to the other two. The intro is changed some from the album. The “noise” section is shortened and the clean spoken part is much louder.
“DOA” - Has some fun guitar riffs and a lot of alt strumming fast sections.
“Thrasher” - One of the fastest, if not the fastest song in Rock Band. Think Miserlou speed. The solo is brutal.
With this and “Shockwave” Harmonix has definitely bumped the guitar difficulty which should please GH veterans. I haven’t tried drums yet. Playing by myself, these songs are OK, but I’m seriously considering deleting this pack when I have parties.
It’s Friday, and that means new DLC announcements from the Official Rock Band Forums! Unfortunately, I don’t think this one isn’t going to be very popular with the masses. Slightly changed from the rumored March list we have the “Earache Thrash Pack” featuring:
- “Blinded By Fear” by At the Gates (master)
- “Thrasher” by Evile (master)
- “D.O.A.” by The Haunted (master)
All tracks are $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) or $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points) for the pack. Personally, I think these should have been a buck, given the niche nature of the genre but I’ll give them a try since I enjoy the metal. You can preview the songs below.
At the Gates - “Blinded By Fear”
Evile - “Thrasher”
The Haunted - “DOA”

i’d like to have these songs available, but i hesitate to get them because i wouldn’t like them to be randomly chosen in setlist.
i’m sure i’ll buy them all eventually, if not immediately.
Yeah, they need a “Party Mode” where you can easily veto or prevent songs from appearing randomly.
Metal is definitely not working for me. And the vocals, oh god.
Thrasher isn’t too bad.
“Party Mode” would be a great idea. Post about it on the RockBand Forums.
Blegh.
