GH3 DLC Packs Released

gh3_logo.jpgIt’s like they knew the AltGN review of GH3 was going up today…..

Major Nelson has updated his blog with details on the first two DLC packs for “Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock.” Released today, the packs feature 3 songs from either Velvet Revolver or the Foo Fighters and go for the now standard price of 500 MS Points ($6.25 US). Initial Internet reaction to the announcement is nowhere near as violently negative as when the pricing scheme was first announced for GH2 DLC, proving that if you get raped enough times, it no longer hurts as much. On a positive note, at least these packs make sense and are master tracks.

If you were hoping that competition from “Rock Band” would drive prices lower, don’t hold your breath. Despite the mathematical inconsistencies between price of content on the disc versus downloadable tracks, GH2 DLC sold very well and with “Guitar Hero 3″ breaking sales record there is no real incentive for the price to drop any time soon. As for “Rock Band” DLC, I believe we will see a similar pricing scheme, if not more expensive based on comments a Harmonix rep made with TheBBPS.com. “I don’t know if I can say we’re cheaper or more expensive but remember, where as in other games they adjust the tracks for one or two guitars, in Rock Band it’s vocals, drums, guitar and bass on multiple difficulties. One thing we will do is give the gamer options. You can buy an album, or if you only want one or two tracks you can purchase those items separately.” Sounds like excuses for high prices to me, so bend over and spread ‘em. It’s coming and it ain’t stopping.

See the specific track details after the jump.

  3. The same shitty pricing guarantee’s I will not be buying these. Hopefully Rock band has a better pricing structure.
